Black Maxi Dress is a Must!

My favorite go to item in my wardrobe is a black maxi dress. As an image consultant I often help my clients break out of the habit of relying on wearing all black. However, I have found that an all black maxi dress can be one of the most useful, versatile items in my wardrobe. Finding one in a good quality knit means I can wash it in cold water and hang it dry. I can also throw it in a weekender for a last minute trip. 

Style a black maxi dress alone with layers of chunky jewelry and a funky slide or metallic sandal for a sleek boho look. 

Add a blazer, ballet flats, a watch and a minimalist necklace for work.

Marry your dress with a denim jacket, infinity scarf and sneakers. Throw a  statement tote over your shoulder and you can flow anywhere your weekend errands may take you... including brunch! 

Your black maxi dress can serve as a beach vaca cover up that transitions well to dinner. Go from the sand to the restaurant with a bit of lip gloss and a turban for your hair! 

With the right  proportions, you can add a t shirt or button up. Topping your dress with a different shirt can create the illusion of a maxi skirt! Presto!

Finally, add something with a fancy texture such as a sequined belt, a fur collar or a satin blazer and voila! Your maxi dress is ready for an after 5 event!
