Showing Up, Even Now
We’ve all heard the phrase “showing up.” It often appears in reminders like:
Show up as your full self
Show up for yourself
Show up for your loved ones
And the question I ask most often: How do you want to show up?
To me, showing up means being fully present- grounded in your principles, and standing in your gifts. It’s the ability to bring your whole self into every situation—amplifying your voice when needed, and being an anchor when the moment calls for it.
- Showing up means being fully present- grounded in your principles, and standing in your gifts.
Why Showing Up Feels Bigger Right Now
These times feel heavy and showing up feels more important than ever. Many of us feel pressure to make our impact more meaningful. Some are wondering if we’re doing enough. Others are considering ways to do even more. Wherever we land on that spectrum, the truth is: the call to show up feels stronger than ever.
I’ll be honest—there are days I second-guess whether talking about fashion, wardrobes, or style even matters. But then I remember: fashion is never just about clothes. Throughout history, it has been a powerful marker of identity, culture, and change.
If fashion weren’t important, debates wouldn’t flare up around ads like Sydney Sweeney’s jeans campaign versus Beyoncé’s Levi’s ad. Even the excitement over something as simple as women’s clothing having pockets comes with centuries of meaning (here’s the history). Even uniforms—both official and unofficial—tell the world how we choose to show up.
- Fashion is never just about clothes. Throughout history, it has been a powerful marker of identity, culture, and change.
Why I Keep Talking About Fashion
So yes—I’m going to keep talking about fashion. About capsule wardrobes, body types, and Style Mindset.
Because this isn’t just about clothes. I didn’t build this business only because business of my lifelong love for fashion as art, but because I believe in its power to help women step fully into their purpose. To show up with confidence. To make their presence felt. To leave impact in every room they walk into.
Carrying the Legacy of Style and Resistance
When I think about the history of fashion as expression, I think about:
Black berets and leather jackets worn by the Black Panthers
Elaborate Sunday hats perched high in prayer
Dr. King wearing overalls during the Poor People’s Campaign
The shirtwaist dresses of Fannie Lou Hamer
Tupac’s iconic bandana
Fashion has always spoken. It was important then, and it’s important now.
-“Fashion has always been a language of presence, power, and possibility.”
So, How Will You Show Up?
For me, fashion is how I help women answer that question. Not with surface-level trends, but with the deeper alignment of style and mindset. Fashion is a language of presence, power, and possibility. And I will keep showing up to talk about it—because how we show up matters.
